Rajasthan: The Rajasthan Government has revised conditions on the rules of Inter – caste marriage scheme under which the couple is provided with monetary incentives. This schemes has given rise to numerous fake marriages and divorce.
According to the new rules, inter – caste marriage would be allowed only up to 35 years of age, and the couple would be entitled to only half of the incentive money. The rest of the amount would be kept as fixed deposit in a joint account in a nationalised bank and claimed only after eight years of marriage.
As per the new rules, it will be mandatory to register the inter – caste marriages. And the bride and the groom should be Hindus, ensuring that no polygamy is involved. The couple will be able to claim Rs. 2.5 lakh within one year of registration of marriage for purchase of household goods.
Widows and widowers, whose spouse did not die of suicide or murder, and those who do not have children are also beneficiaries of this monetary benefit under this scheme.
