MoU signed to provide “Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme” for Persons with Disabilities

On 21-9-2015, a Memorandum of
Understanding was signed to provide a comprehensive and affordable Health
Insurance Scheme – “Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme” – for the Persons with
Disabilities (PwDs). The MoU was signed between Trust Fund for Empowerment of
Persons with Disabilities, under the Department of Empowerment of People with
Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the New India
Assurance Company Limited. The objective of the “Swavlamban Health Insurance
Scheme” is to provide affordable Health Insurance to persons with blindness,
low vision, leprosy-cured, hearing impairment, loco-motor Disability, mental
Retardation and mental Illness. The Scheme also aims to improve the general
Health condition & quality of life of persons with disabilities.
