Faridabad District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum observes LMV license holder cannot be denied insurance if driving LGV

1 min read

Faridabad District Consumer Redressal Forum, while hearing a case of one Krishan Kumar who was denied insurance by The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, observed that Light Goods Vehicles (LGV) are covered under in the definition of Light Motor vehicles (LMV) and a LMV license holder cannot be denied insurance cover in case of an accident if he is found driving LGV.

In supporting Mr Kumar’s case, his counsel relied upon a 2008 Supreme Court judgement wherein it was laid out that LG carriage would come within the definition of LMV and a driver possessing LMV license was authorised to drive a LG carriage as well.
