The former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, convicted in the teachers’ recruitment scam case, has been directed by the Delhi High Court to surrender on Saturday. Mr Chautala was released on interim bail on medical grounds earlier, and he was found addressing political rallies for the upcoming Haryana State Assembly elections.

Justice Siddharth Mridul directed that after he surrenders, Mr Chautala be taken to the AIIMS for medical treatment, if the jail authorities and Medical Superintendent find it necessary.

Mr Chautala was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in junior teachers’ ┬árecruitment scam case by a CBI special court last year.
