Delhi – As per Police statement, Jagmohan Yadav and Savitri Yadav, residents of Dwarka (South West Delhi district), strangled their daughter on 15th November, 2015 for marrying without their consent and outside their caste.

Bhawna, a third year student of Venkateshwara College, married Abhishek Seth, 24, a contractual assistant programmer at Rashtrapati Bhawan, on 12th November 2014 in Delhi.

Brawn’s parents’ had disapproved of their marriage and had arranged her engagement with another man from own caste. They decided to marry then hoping that her parents would give their consent later.

Vishal, one of their friend said, “We went to Abhishek’s house after the wedding and his father told us Bhawna’s parents must be informed. They came and promised to honour the marriage. They took Bhawna away, saying they’d keep her home for a few days and promising to host a grand wedding”.

Police said that when she reached her house in Dwarka, her parents allegedly beat her for dishonouring her family and asked her to divorce Abhishek. On her refusal, they strangled her.

After the crime, the family left for Alwar, Rajasthan, their native place along with the dead body of their daughter. They cremated their daughter in the village only.

Abhishek filed a police complaint on November 16 after failing to talk to her. Eventually a cousin told him of her cremation.
When the police interrogated the Yadav couple separated, they both confessed to murder.
